I first started Pilates with Debbie back in 2002, when I was asked to join a mat class with a family member. My goals were to strengthen my core, increase flexibility and to tone up. I also had re-curing lower back pain and had gone for chiropractic treatments for 5-6 years with no real lasting results.
After taking mat classes, I added Pilates equipment workouts on the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels. Since starting Pilates I have noticed significant changes which include increased muscle strength, tone and a stronger core. The best thing is I no longer have lower back pain! I realized that Pilates is good self-care and is the most important thing I could do for my back.
I really enjoy the challenge that the instructors give me on a weekly basis to increase my strength and flexibility. I look forward to trying new exercises that push me to achieve even more. Pilates is an amazing total body workout!
Having greater flexibility and a stronger core has enabled me to do more of the things I love doing in life. If you are looking for a total body workout to gain a strong core, increase muscle strength and tone with qualified instructors, Ross Pilates is something you should consider.
In February 2015 I had emergency surgery to deal with lumbar degenerative spondylosis with spondylolisthesis and herniated lumbar disc disease. All big words that scared me, necessitating a long surgery and a very long recovery period. After one year of physiotherapy and long-distance walking, my neurosurgeon advised that I focus more on core strengthening and my massage therapist suggested that I met with Debbie at Ross Pilates to discuss the next steps in my recovery.
It has been over one year that we have been working together and every time I’ve started to write this testimonial, I’ve started crying! I first walked into the studio moving like a robot: straightforward, fully turning my whole body to look at something next to me and afraid of picking anything up or moving “too much”. Today, my strength, confidence, balance, core and overall health are stronger than it was in the years leading up to my surgery. If I had any wish, it would be that I would have started Pilates sooner in my life. I’m grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to work with Debbie and her Team at Ross Pilates!
This summer, I had the strength – and confidence to play while we were at camp. This was only possible because of Ross Pilates!
I had experienced a serious leg injury that required surgery to repair a Tibia fracture which involved plates, pins and screws. Recovery from surgery involved 6 weeks non-weight bearing and 5 months physiotherapy which taught me to walk again. My leg was healing well but I had reached a plateau in healing. I was left in constant pain, feeling weak, unbalanced, fatigued and overall out of shape. I needed more. The constant physical pain and considerable weight gain also left me feeling depressed and defeated. I read a testimonial from a client at Ross Pilates that I could really relate to and decided to try it.
My goals were to strengthen my injured leg, reduce pain, improve balance and re-align my body for better posture. After 4 months I was thrilled to have reached my goals. I truly believe if I had not committed to Pilates I would have continued to have pain and limited mobility.
The instructors are well educated in Therapeutic Pilates, very encouraging and very attentive. I would strongly recommend Ross Pilates and Conditioning to anyone, whether they require help healing, or to relieve tension and stress, maintain good balance or gait or improve overall function. Pilates at Ross Pilates and Conditioning has changed my life!
“I trust Ross Pilates and Conditioning with my patient’s core stability and medical exercise post-rehabilitation needs. They know their stuff.”
