Donna R’s Story

“I now move better overall and my physical energy has returned. I’ve noticed improved flexibility, strength, muscle tone and better balance.”

I first came to Pilates after I broke my ankle which required a plate with 8 screws to repair the broken bone. My ankle was weak and lacking strength, balance and stability. I also felt like my muscles were pretty stiff all over. I had done physiotherapy and, while it had helped initially, I knew I needed to rehabilitate my ankle more after I was done my physiotherapy. My friend Wendy told me about how great Pilates was for her, so I decided to give it a try.

My goals at the time were to make sure my ankle healed properly and to build back the strength and stability I had lost when I had injured it. I needed to get back to doing all my day to day activities with confidence that my ankle wouldn’t give way. I was so scared I would injure it further and knew I needed to make sure that didn’t happen again.

What I found at Ross Pilates were professional instructors who gave me feedback and corrected my form when required. I worked with Debbie initially to build back the strength I had lost in my ankle. We worked on the Pilates Reformer, Chair, the BOSU and other equipment. My ankle got to the level where I was able to participate in a variety of different group classes.

On top of my increased ankle strength and stability, I’ve noticed so many other changes. I now move better overall and my physical energy has returned. I’ve noticed improved flexibility, strength, muscle tone and better balance. I continue to see improvements and I’m back to doing all the things I used to do.

Pilates is a great for any level of exercise experience. There are many exercises and every exercise can be tailored to each client and their physical fitness level.  If it weren’t for Ross Pilates my broken ankle would not have recovered 100%.  It’s feeling stronger and more stable than ever before.
