Karyn’s Story

“Every time I’ve started to write this testimonial I’ve started crying!”

In February 2015 I had emergency surgery to deal with lumbar degenerative spondylosis with spondylolisthesis and herniated lumbar disc disease. All big words that scared me, necessitating a long surgery and a very long recovery period. After one year of physiotherapy and long-distance walking, my neurosurgeon advised that I focus more on core strengthening and my massage therapist suggested that I met with Debbie at Ross Pilates to discuss the next steps in my recovery.

It has been over one year that we have been working together and every time I’ve started to write this testimonial, I’ve started crying!  I first walked into the studio moving like a robot: straightforward, fully turning my whole body to look at something next to me and afraid of picking anything up or moving “too much”. Today, my strength, confidence, balance, core and overall health are stronger than it was in the years leading up to my surgery. If I had any wish, it would be that I would have started Pilates sooner in my life.  I’m grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to work with Debbie and her Team at Ross Pilates!

This summer, I had the strength – and confidence to play while we were at camp. This was only possible because of Ross Pilates!
